Pet Licensing

Most cities or counties in the Front Range require dogs, and sometimes cats, to be licensed.  We have provided links to most of the areas we serve. If you do not see the area you live in, check with your local authorities for more information.

Aurora - Aurora Animal Care Division/Aurora Animal Shelter

Castle Rock - Castle Rock Animal Protection Division/Police Department

Centennial - The City of Centennial

Cherry Hills - City of Cherry Hills Village

Denver - Denver Animal Shelter

Englewood - Currently licensing is not required in Englewood, but dogs and cats must be vaccinated for rabies.

Greenwood Village - City of Greenwood Village

Lakewood - Lakewood Police

Parker - Parker Police Department

Arapahoe County - Public Works and Development, Animal Control/Arapahoe County Government

Douglas County - Douglas County Animal Services. Every pet owner in Douglas County needs a to have a current rabies certificate and tag issued by a licensed veterinarian for each dog that he or she owns after the dog is four months old or within one month of being brought into Douglas County. Every dog required to have a tag has to wear its tag at all times. This tag is considered to be the county license and no other license is required.

Jefferson County - Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department
